  1. The need for your personal data

Patiro collects, processes, and stores your personal data for the purpose of connecting you to a clinical study and contacting you in case there is a match. For this we need your personal data, of which, in case of a match, we will contact you by phone to verify your personal data and to collect a verbal consent to disclose your data to scientific institutions conducting research projects. These research projects are without exception approved by the Ethics Committee.

Your personal data is protected not only by our commitment to quality and high standards but also by compliance with applicable laws in every region where we operate. Patiro adheres to leading data protection regulations worldwide, including: the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR); the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA); Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA); the Australian Privacy Act 1988; and the UK Data Protection Act 2018, among others. Data provided to third-party service providers is anonymised meaning that the person cannot be identified.

  1. Your rights regarding your personal data

Depending on our reason for processing your personal data and applicable laws, you have certain rights regarding your personal data. We want to make you aware of these privacy rights.

  • Right of access

You have the right to request copies of your personal data.

  • Right to rectification

You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate.

  • Right to erasure

You have the right to be forgotten, which means that your personal data will be erased. If you want your personal data deleted, please contact us by email, post, or phone. This, however, only applies in certain circumstances and there might be cases where we are legally obliged to keep your personal data for a while, and therefore may not be able to delete it right away.

  • Right to restrict processing

Under certain circumstances, you can request we restrict the way we use your personal data. This serves as an alternative to a request for us to delete the data as mentioned above.

  • Right to withdraw consent

When visiting Health Panel’s website, you will be asked to consent to the use of cookies, as well as agree to the terms outlined in this Privacy Policy. You may withdraw your consent at any time, and we've made it easy for you to do so here

If you choose to create a profile or participate in a study by completing a questionnaire, we will collect your health data based on your consent. At any point, you can withdraw that consent by either deleting your profile or requesting us to delete it for you.

Please note that if you participate in a study, there may be instances where we are required to retain some of your personal data due to legal or contractual obligations. In such cases, your data will be retained only for the necessary duration, after which we will ensure that it is either deleted or anonymized.

Your data may also be valuable for identifying potential participants in future studies. With your consent, we may use it for such purposes.

As mentioned above, there may occur situations where we are entitled to deny or restrict your privacy rights due to legal circumstances. Please also note that if you make unfounded, repetitive, or excessive requests (as determined in our reasonable discretion) to access your personal data, you may be charged a fee subject to a maximum set by applicable law.

  1. How long we keep your personal data

We retain your personal information for the period necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy unless a longer retention period is required or allowed by law or to otherwise fulfil a legal obligation. We periodically review the data we hold, and erase or anonymize it when we no longer need it.

  1. Children and Adolescents

If the clinical study involves minors (age below 18 years), the parent(s), caretaker(s) or legal guardian are required to give consent allowing them to participate in the recruitment process. When answering the questionnaire, it is possible to fill in the contact information and health related state on behalf of the minor. Should the minor match for a current study, the contact to the minor is overseen through the parent, caretaker, or legal guardian.

  1. Updates to our Privacy Policy

We are committed to complying with fundamental principles of privacy and data protection. We therefore regularly review this Privacy Policy to keep it up to date and in accordance with applicable principles and legislation. The Privacy Policy is subject to change without notice.
